Turnip

Belonging to the Brassica rapa species, Turnip or White Turnip is a root vegetable with a mildly spicy, earthy flavour. Fairbanks’ range of turnips has a fast and uniform pace of growth and relatively slow bolting, making it an excellent addition to the vegetable patch.

Turnips have been grown for thousands of years and are believed to have originated in Asia or Europe. Brought to North America by Europeans, they have since become a common vegetable in many parts of the world. Typically, a turnip tastes bitter when eaten raw but becomes much tastier when cooked. It can be eaten raw, cooked or pickled and is often used in soups, stews, stir-fries and other dishes.

Turnips are packed with nutrients, they are rich in a variety of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins A and C, calcium, folate, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.
