Zucchini

Zucchini, also known as courgette, is a variety of summer squash belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, a species of plant which includes pumpkins, melons and cucumbers. Fairbanks offers seeds for growing zucchinis which are dark green in complexion and shiny and uniform in shape. Fairbanks’ zucchinis also deliver excellent fruit setting, with extensive numbers of marketable fruit. They are especially upright, well-balanced plants, delivering good vigour and excellent yield potential and are easy to harvest.

Zucchini is a versatile fruit that can be enjoyed raw or cooked and is mild, slightly sweet in flavour and tender in texture. It’s also nutrient-dense and contains vitamins A and C, fibre, potassium and antioxidants.

Often mistaken for a vegetable, it is a highly adaptable fruit which can be prepared in a variety of ways and enjoyed in a host of dishes. Primarily, zucchinis are roasted, grilled, baked or sautéed and often used in an assortment of savoury dishes such as stews, casseroles and salads. Some even use a spiralizer to turn it into noodle form for a healthy alternative to pasta.
