Cucumber

Cucumbers are part of the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae belonging to the Cucumis sativus species. Fairbanks Seeds has an excellent variety of Cucumbers, which include the Syngenta varieties that offer good plant habit, shelf life and a great continued fruit setting. There are four main types of cucumbers in the New Zealand market: continental, slicing, snacking and Lebanese.

Our Syngenta cucumbers are easy to grow, provide high-yield fruit with an attractive dark green colour and have notable disease resistance. At Fairbanks, we provide you with seeds for both outdoor and indoor, high-quality and marketable varieties.

Cucumbers is not only an exceptional source of plant compounds, such as triterpenes and lignans, that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics but is also a good source of potassium, vitamins C and K.

They are usually eaten raw or pickled and can be served in different ways, such as in salads, soups, sandwiches, dips or garnishes.
